“WALKING AS A MEDITATION”
For this collaboration, VEJA and Baserange imagine the anatomical sneaker as a link between the foot and its surroundings. Every step carries its own intention; walking becomes a conscious act — “walking as a meditation.”
Materials that bridge innovation and heritage. Features a foam tongue, creating a silhouette that is both athletic and sensitive. The upper is made from NOLYN, VEJA’s modern, sustainable take on nylon. This innovative material retains the high-performance properties of classic nylon — durability, elasticity, resistance to heat and water — while using 54% polyester and 46% recycled polyester.

For this collaboration, two material directions were explored. Some pairs feature suede overlays, while others are made with Mesclat — which means “blend” in Occit an. This hybrid fabric, made from 55% Lacaune wool and 45% organic French hemp, was developed by VirgoCoop, a textile cooperative based in the Lot Valley in southern France.
The Lacaune wool comes from French dairy sheep — animals primarily raised for their milk. Their wool is usually seen as waste: coarser, thicker, and shorter than Australian merino, it’s rarely valued. It is often discarded or even burned, contributing to the slow disappearance of the French wool industry. By blending it with hemp fibres from organic farming, VirgoCoop has created a soft yet durable textile that requires no cottonization or energy-intensive processing. Mesclat mixes an age-old craft with a true innovation in textile making.
Baserange was founded in 2012 between Toulouse and Copenhagen by Blandine Legait and Marie-Louise Mogensen. From the beginning, the brand has focused on minimalist, comfort able clothing and underwear designed to feel like second skin. At its core: full European production and the use of ecological and recycled materials. For its rare collaborations, the brand carefully selects partners that share its values.
