Leather sandals with ankle strap, buckle and hook closure, linen lining and natural gum sole.
The Plié Shoe designed by Industrial Designer Stefan Lie in 2007.
The brief for this project was to create a hybrid: Stefan was commissioned by Spiral Wacoal Art Center Japan to produce foot-ware with the durability of a shoe, but with the openness and lightness of a sandal. By using fine leather strips he was able to achieve the combination of strength and openness required. The material also had the benefit of giving the shoes an unusual amout of flexibility, hence the name.
Handmade in Japan by Kousuke from Shoe Store Ko, a small sustainable make to order workshop located in Shintomi-cho, Shizuoka.
